Understanding Prakriti: your Ayurvedic constitution
Prakriti is an Ayurvedic way of describing an individual’s natural constitutional pattern. It is usually discussed through the qualities of Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
The three doshas
Vata is traditionally associated with movement, Pitta with transformation and Kapha with structure and stability. Every person has all three, but the relative pattern differs from person to person.
Constitution is not a diagnosis
Prakriti is not a disease label and it should not replace clinical assessment. It is one part of an Ayurvedic consultation, considered alongside your symptoms, medical history and current state.
Why individual assessment matters
Similar symptoms can appear in people with different backgrounds and patterns. That is why general advice from social media or a quiz may not be appropriate for everyone.
A consultation gives the physician an opportunity to ask questions, examine the complete picture and explain which recommendations are relevant to you.
